Good evening Gentlemen and Ladies,

We all agree on the terms, that ripping is getting the files off an audio CD
or DVD and maybe this includes tapes and records and saves them usually in a
compressed format on the hard drive.

Burning is taking this material and copying it to a CD or DVD disk in which
the copy process actually melts the vinyl to save the data. The laser burns
the data to the disk and so if you make a mistake on a regular CD there is
no way to salvage it, thus you have a coaster to protect your table. Make
sure you mark this bad disk or throw it away to save frustration at trying
to figure out what it was.

Have a great day,

Paul Bolduc
