Just kidding of course. These symbols have no meaning. They are just
extraneous junk that gets inserted into some e-mails for whatever reason.
It has been a fact of life on this list forever, and short of unsubscribing,
the only options are to live with it, or delete any message as soon as you
see an odd character.
