Hi Steve,
I am sure that you had to think about being hired someone else as a blind person.
I have had the unpleasant experience of testifying about the discrimination another employee experienced working at the same County Agency I did.
This person was the Receptionist. He was perceived as gay and he had a back problem which necessitated use of a Special Chair.
He experienced blatant discrimination.
I testified on his behalf at hearings from the Office of Civil Rights out of Kansas City.
I really wasn't very popular because I had also gotten my job four days before my case went to trial. I had been denied my job on the basis of blindness even though I had the highest test score in the area.
Adyway there were consequences from these two actions.
I understand that you felt you couldn't do anything.
You can always ask these individuals for forgiveness if you ever run into them.
I hope this helps.
Colleen Roth
