I use Debian Linux and presently have a Wouxun KGUV6 radio on
loan to find out if I can use it with a computer and I am
finding out annoying stuff right now.

The programming cable is one of those usb-to-serial
dongles. I downloaded the owx-current Linux suite of programming
software and it compiled without any problem.

This software gives command-line access to the radio and
it all installed easily but I wouldn't be writing this
particular message if things were perfect.

What I think is happening is that the dongle doesn't get
along with the serial drivers my version of Debian Squeeze has
to offer. The usb cable does register as a serial port but I see
the words noserial in the syslog messages and the software
complains it can't talk to the radio although it complains much
more quickly if the radio is not present.

My question is whether or not there is a programming
cable that fits in to the radio and connects to a real RS-232
port. That would remove one unknown from the equation.

Thanks.
