Dare I suggest--again--the Elecraft K2?

Elecraft K2 with KSB2 (SSB board), KIO2 (serial port), KNB2 (noise
blanker), K160RX (160-meter and second receive antenna--probably won't
be doing much 160 though), KAT2 (autotuner--FT-817 doesn't have one),
and KRC2 with the accessibility option. Oh yes, and the KBT2 (internal
battery option). Oh yes, you can either also have either an audio
filter for cw, or a spiffy DSP option. No, you won't have VHF/UHF/FM,
but you'll be supporting a company that gives a darn about our
needs. I can recommend two fantastic builders...I've worked with both
myself...and no doubt there are a gazillion others. If you like, I'll
keep an eye out for an already-built one...they come up now and
again. Can't recommend the K2 highly enough--I absolutely love mine!
