2 meters has 100 watts, 70 cm has 50 watts. 100 watts is nice for simplex
but chances are if you're using that to get in to a repeater you either have
a lot of work to do, or are interfering with other repeaters and not looked
on too favorably. Unfortunately we have a few around here when the band
opens they love to talk on repeaters 100 miles away with little to no
consideration to the several other repeaters that distance or closer that
are rendered unusable because of the noise they generate. Why they don't go
to simplex I don't know but again, the mentality that keeps me from the
radio. Those are the same ones that when the band isn't open think a
computer making contacts for them is a good idea. I don't miss 2 meters at
all. Is it any wonder my VHF side of the TS-2000 hasn't been hooked to
anything in several months and even then it was only hooked up for a couple
months.
