Hi John,
Years ago, I had a couple dial up accounts but since then I have been on
couple cable accounts and now I am on DSL.

The first modem I had was a 14.4 and when I got a new computer, I upgraded
to a 56K. The first thing I downloaded was a little over 1 meg. I checked
the download speed and found it was slower than the old 14.4. The following
day, a man came by and found that the port setting was set to 9600. It
worked pretty good after it was reset.
