ok,
lets see.
the radio was doing ok until it stopped transmitting in mid conversation. I didn't know until after I had unkeyed and only discovered that fact when the others in the group were commenting that I disappeared mid-sentence.

I had one of the sighted (and technologically inept) roomies assist me with taking a look at the power output on a dummy load. No juice in any mode (sub/cw/am/fm). checked the antenna connections (radio was on proper antenna selector and the dummy load also worked). about the only thing we need to do is to see if it produces low level output using a separate receiver. If that works, then I know that the problem is likely in the PA section

This is the really frustrating bit: I have the knowledge but not the working eyes to use it.
