Ed, I don't think I have ever tried this, so I can't say when the
behavior when using the jaws cursor to read previous records changed,
or what may have caused the change.

When I go to the show previous records screen with control q, then
route the Jaws cursor to a given record, nothing is automatically
spoken. To hear the record that the Jaws cursor is on, I then must
press Jaws key plus numpad 8. Pressing either down arrow, or numpad 2
will move to the next record, and the entire entry will be spoken.
If I use right arrow, or numpad 3, it moves one letter at a time, like
you said. If I use Jaws key plus numpad 3 to move to the right, the
Jaws cursor moves to the next field, but nothing is spoken until I use
jaws key plus numpad 5. When I do that, only the field where the Jaws
cursor is located is spoken.

So, reading only the next field becomes a two step process. The
sequence is Jaws key plus numpad 3 to move to the next field, then Jaws
key plus numpad 5 to read it.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I notice that I cannot read a specific field with the Mouse cursor
when using System Access.

I do not know NVDA well enough to test whether or not it will read an
individual field.
