Steve, thank you very much. That worked like a charm. Can I assume the front panel chart from the 590s still applies to the 590g? You've been a great help.

Frank,

Reset is the same on both the 590s and 590sg.

You want the a/b button which is to the right of the main tuning knob, second row down and third button from  the left.

Turn the radio off.  Pressand hold  the a/b button while you power up 
the radio.   Release both the power and a/b buttons.  The voice will say 
"Full reset?".  For a full reset, press the a/b button again at this time.  Radio will reset and jump to 14.000.

If you want to do a VFO reset instead, follow the above instructions, but when the voice says "full reset?", turn the multi knob until she 
says "VFO reset?", then hit the a/b button again.   This will reset a 
lot of the radio, but keep menus and memories intact.
