Anthony,

The reason you have to pay so much for products like the Stream is that so 
few of them are sold.  If you could sell a hundred million of them over the 
life cycle of the product, then the price would come down.  As it is, 
Humanware has sold about ten thousand, and they consider that a success. 
With those numbers, you can't begin to cover the costs of manufacturing with 
a $50 price tag.  I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's economic 
reality.
