Most of the amps that require the use of devices such as the Ameritron
ARB-704 are old ones. Most modern-day amps can be keyed without problems by
today's transceivers, but the older amps often required voltages and
currents beyond the limited capabilities of modern-day transceivers.

Subject: 704 box

It is a buffer or isolator between radio and linear amplifier. Basicly,
this box as well as the one I sent a link to yesterday is keyed by the
small relay in the radio and the box then keys the amp. Most radios have
a very small voltage and current rating which isn't enough for some
amplifiers.
