I don't remember what sort of antenna you are using, but I think it was
stealthy or indoor. Anything you can do to separate it from the shack and
get it out in the clear will help, both by reducing computer hash and also
by strengthening sky-wave signals. Check the integrity of coax connections,
baluns, antenna switches, filters, etc. to make sure that you are not
receiving or transmitting very much inside the shack. For example, if you
switch to a dummy load, does the computer noise go away as it should?
After exhausting all those possibilities, you might consider using a phasing
unit like the one MFJ sells, that can cancel out much of the hash by means
of a phase- and amplitude-adjusted hash input from within the shack. I have
never used one of these devices, but some on this list have, and they should
work, in theory, although adjustment would be finicky.

Subject: computer creating noise in my TS-590

My computer is creating noise in my TS-590. It isn't very much, but it is
enough that signals that are weak get covered up, and I cannot copy them. Do
any of you have suggestions on how I can resolve this?
