Hello:

I need some hints from some programmers who are blind.

Years ago I learned applesoft and then on to DOS basic. I never did much but
it was helpful to design a program for some special task from time to time.

My new laptop will no longer run my basic software, gwbasic.exe.

I suppose it is time I learn a very little about some other language and
especially if it is capable of being running on a pc and unix but it must be a
pc.

1 What language is simple for a blind person
2 what compiler or editor or whatever is helpful for a blind person
3 where do I buy and how much
4 are there simple manuals to learn the simplest of programming for said
system.

The kind of thing I frequently do is read, modify and write text files such as
taking a text file and spitting out an html file putting in certain tags in
certain situations. Or looking through text files for student names and
removing them so the text file is ok to post publicly listing grades without
names in public.

This is probably too simple for a list discussion. So, just drop me a note
directly.

Norman
