EASI's online, instructor-led, month-long course: Train the Trainer
starting April 7 provides practical help for staff who occasionally have to
train users with disabilities on accessing information technology.
Syllabus and registration online at http://easi.cc/workshops/train.htm
(That Web page also includes a link to a smple lesson.)

Schools, colleges, universities, libraries and other organizations serving
large numbers of people need to be able to provide occasional help to users
with disabilities on the use of the specialized tools they require in
accessing electronic information. These trainers need a simple but
practical knowledge of adaptive technologies such as screen magnification,
screen readers, onscreen keyboards, voice recognition, Internet browsing
software and text scanning applications. This is a giant order, and Train
the Trainer course is designed to provide a quick overview of these
applications and provide: 1. an overview of adaptive technology, 2. a set
of tip sheets and 3. a PowerPoint presentation for training other staff.
All of these aids are designed to permit these trainers to stay current
without becoming swamped!

The course text is Adaptive Technologies for Learning and Work
Environments, Second Edition by Joseph J. Lazzaro. Joe is the instructor
for this course so you can learn straight from the expert.

This online distance learning course is delivered over the internet and
leverages the use of both email and web resources. Our goal is to help
participants
discover Internet resources that will let them remain current with the
rapidly changing technologies. This course focuses on trainers working in
organizations
who are responsible for providing assistive technology services directly to
consumers. The course provides the necessary technical depth to allow the
trainer
to master the intricacies of basic personal computer hardware and software
systems, and how these relate to operating systems, applications programs, and
assistive technology solutions. The course is beneficial for those
responsible for supporting assistive technology within an organization, and
includes valuable resources and materials that can serve as handouts for
the trainer to hand out to their consumers.

Other courses starting April 7:
Beginner Barrier-free Web Design
Advanced Barrier-free Web Design
