EASI's weekly webcast is an interview with R. Green discussing the
opportunities for libraries to expand and include a new group of patrons
who had previously been shut out of library use. Most librarians are
eagerly embracing this challenge and only need help in knowing how to adapt
their facilities to include this population. A few view it as another
burden being laid on them by bothersome governmental regulations.
The webcast will be posted Thur. Aug. 12 at 9 Eastern, 6 Pacific and will
be archived on the web indefinitely:

The key to including patrons with disabilities into today's digitized
information is the use of special adaptive technologies: hardware and
software. EASI is proud of its role in helping many librarians accomplish
adaptations to their facilities.
EASI, the TLT Group and Michigan's Oakland Community College are providing
a conference on adaptive computing Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 with a special
component by Ferris State about their plans for a new library which is
including special needs facilities in the original plans instead of adding
it on as an afterthought. This conference will be good for libraries and
universities.
