EASI's interactive online course: Barrier-free Web Design Begins oct. 7,
and Runs for four weeks.

This course has been revised and improved this summer.  Besides providing
students with the ability to design web pages that are accessible, the
course has added a component which walks students, step by step, through
the process of taking a problem web page and repair it to be accessible.
As more and more people become aware of the need to make their web sites
accessible, they are faced with fixing web sites that already exist.
Helping students locate the mistakes and learn how to repair them is an
increasingly important need.  When it IS broken, learn how to fix it!

This course is designed for designers who already know HTML or for those
who use WYSIWYG editors and don't need to know HTML.  It is not a course in
HTML as such.  The course, instead,  focuses on accessibility features and
how to design pages for access.

The course uses both Section 508 Standards and the Web Accessibility
Initiative's Quick tips and Guidelines.  These technical standards and
guidelines are "translated" for people who do not feel comfortable with
technical language.  The course also includes several video and audio clips
that help the student get a clear picture of how to use the various tools
needed in web design and repair.  EASI courses encourage interaction
between participants and instructors as well as among participants.

Students who wish continuing education units can receive these on request.
This course is one of the required courses for people working for the
Certificate in Accessible Information Technology.
