I have been at the BETT (British Educational Technology) show
at Olympia, which continues until Saturday (13th), demonstrating
a new approach to assistive reading, using a combination of large character,
word-at-a-time display with speech synthesis. A librarian visiting
the show mentioned that there is a new obligation in the UK for libraries
to be accessible for customers who require it. It seems there
is a real need for a reasonably-priced package which will be easy to
install, easy to use for the staff, and easy to explain how to use
for the customers. If there are any UK librarians reading this list,
they might like to visit us on the Cloudworld stand (SW7), and see how
our software package (called WordAloud) could meet their requirements.
We have produced a free demonstration disc for anybody who is interested.

the software on our web site, which you can access directly on
www.wordaloud.co.uk.
Cheers,
John
