So, if I understand this correctly, even after the PPT files have been
run through this plug-in export utility, if you want to have them
spoken, you still need to use a screen reader on the resulting files.
Is this right?

OK, what the plugin does, is take the title/bullets on the slides and
exports those slides to two different sets of html documents. On set has
the text that has been typed into the PowerPoint program and spits those
titles and bullets in a pure text html format.
The plugin creates an index.html file that has the title of the
presentation and two links. One link to the graphic version and one text
to the text version.
