Computer Science/Engineering Librarian, DalTech Library

DalTech Library announces an exciting opportunity for a forward-looking
librarian.  The successful candidate will join a team of information
specialists who manage the evolving digital environment serving DalTech
College (the Dalhousie Faculties of Architecture, Computer Science and
Engineering).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for DalTech the incumbent
will provide user instruction, research support and collections development
to faculty and students in Computer Science and designated Engineering
disciplines.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for
coordinating the organization of DalTech collections.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; academic background or work
experience in the sciences, computer science or engineering; experience in
cataloguing or database management in an automated library environment.
Expertise in both traditional and electronic information
sources.  Enthusiasm and flexibility, with excellent oral and written
communication skills; a positive service orientation.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with information resources for engineering and computer science.
Teaching experience.

AVAILABILITY:
Position available September 1, 1999.  Appointment will be at the rank of
Librarian I ($28,980 - $32,766), or Librarian II ($32,766 - $41,544). It is
a full-time, probationary tenure track appointment.  Librarians are members
of the Dalhousie Faculty Association.
