REASSIGNMENT OR PROVISIONAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The San Francisco Public Library is accepting applications for a fulltime
(40 hours/week)  position as a reassignment or promotion to be filled by a
provisional or permanent employee.

CLASS & TITLE:  3634 LIBRARIAN III
Access Services Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under direction of the Chief of Main,
directly supervises the access and audio-visual programs of the Main
Library including:  Deaf Services, Library for the Blind & Print Disabled,
Project Read, Learning Differences, Accessible Technology, and the
Audio-Visual Center. Works with staff and community groups to ensure no
patron is denied access to library services.  Oversees accessible access
technology, including training of patrons and staff in the use of this
technology.  Directly supervises three Librarian II s and one 1356, Project
Read, Manager; rotates as Acting Chief of Main. The salary range for
positions in this class:  $2,58 to $2,502 (bi-weekly);  $4,476 to $5,442
(monthly);  $53,714 to $65,302 (annually).

NOTE:  The normal work schedule for this position includes Saturdays and
Sunday and other than 8am - 5 pm. The appointee to this position must be
able to work this schedule when required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Possession of a Masters of Library and Information
Science (MLIS) degree from an ALA-accredited institution Or 5th year
Baccalaureate degree from a library school accredited by the American
Library Association.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:  Requires American Sign Language abilities
DESIRED QUALIFICATION: Knowledge of Adaptive Library technology

PROVISIONAL APPLICATION PROCEDURE:  Completed applications, preferably
using a regular City and County of San Francisco employment application
form or resume and cover letter together with copies of MLS diploma; or
copy of transcript showing completion of MLS.

Applications without proof of possession of the Minimum Qualifications
(MLIS) may be rejected.

REASSIGNMENT REQUEST: Submit SFPL REASSIGNMENT REQUEST FORM to Personnel.

EXPERIENCE VERIFICATION FOR PROVISIONALS: Applicants must provide
verification of all experience needed to qualify. Verification must be on
the employer s letterhead and must provide the following information:  name
of the applicant, job title(s), duties performed, dates of service, and
must be signed by the employer.
Verification (proof) of Minimum Qualifications may be waived if impossible
to obtain. Applicants requesting a waiver must attach a note to their
application citing reasons for such a request. Waivers will be granted on a
