EASI Free Online Clinic, March 4, Campaigning for Good Web Design: RNIB and
online accessibility in the UK
times: 3 PM Eastern, 2 Central, 1 Mountain and Noon Pacific.

Presenter: Julie Howell, Digital Policy Development Officer, Royal National
Institute of the Blind.
EASI Clinics are interactive, voice, interactive Web conferences where the
audience can interact live with the presenter. You listen to the presenter
talking while background information is presented by pushing Web pages.
The text chat window is usually reserved for a streaming text transcription
of what is being spoken. To fully participate, you need Windows or Virtual
Windows, Explorer version 6, a sound card, speakers and a mic. (Without
the mic, you will still hear everything and can post questions in the text
chat window. If you register but cannot attend, we will send you an URL
for the recorded archive.

In May 2003, Julie was appointed to the new position of Digital Policy
Development Officer, a role that involves working with policy makers,
information architects and software designers across all sectors to ensure
that information products and services published on digital platforms are
both accessible and usable. In December 2003, Julie was named one of the
top 50 most influential people in the new media industry by New Media Age
magazine.

Since 1999, The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) in the UK has
campaigned for the web to be more accessible. Learn about the campaign
highlights, what still needs to be achieved, what the UK law says and what
you can do to help get the web more accessible to people with disabilities.
In this presentation, Julie will focus on RNIB's policy and campaigning
work (this is not a technical presentation).
