Video demonstrating adaptive computer technology on the web

Below is a description of this video and a description of 2 online
workshops that use it as part of their content.

The video is at http://www.rit.edu/~easi/audio/listen.html
and select the Adaptive Technology Guide link.

EASI Guide to Adaptive Computing Technology

Let EASI take you down the street to understanding how adaptive
computing technology can provide access to people with disabilities
who want to study, research and work in the fields of science,
engineering and mathematics. "The EASI Guide to Adaptive Computing
Technology," is the first tape of EASI's video trilogy, "EASI Street
to Science, Engineering and Mathematics." This videotape is a general
overview that focuses on general adapted computing tools, and how those
tools open doors for people with disabilities. The 22-minute
videotape provides a brief overview of the types of technological
solutions that offer access to computers and -- through computers --
to every field of endeavor.

adaptive computing and is ideal for administrators, teachers,
librarians, computer support staff, ADA compliance officers and service
providers. It focuses on how to set up computing technology and services
for individuals with disabilities. Taught by people who have consulted
extensively on adaptive technology and information access.

* this workshop has been revised and enhanced in 1998 to include text
assignments and web assignments. New material related to special
education and students in K-12 has also been included.

Course registrationn is $195, and a EASI video on adaptive technology
and the text, Information Access and Adaptive computing is also
included.

For anyone wanting continuing education units, these are provided.

EASI-SEM provides current information on making science, math and
engineering more accessible to persons with disabilities. The six-week
workshop discusses the unique barriers to SEM disciplines and also
describes both simple access solutions and new technologies for
accessing math and tactile graphics. The course development was funded
by a National Science Foundation grant and includes the textbook,
Information Access and Adaptive computing plus videotapes and manuals
developed for the project. The course instructor is Carmela Cunningham.
