CALL FOR PAPERS

5th Annual African Language Teachers' Association (ALTA) Conference.  April
26-28th in Madison. Co-sponsored by the National African Language Resource
Center in conjunction with the Department of African Languages and
Literature and the African Studies Program. Theme: "Professionalizing the
Field: Initiative, Collaboration and Progress." Papers are welcome that
address the theme or any other topic related to African language pedagogy.

OTHER FUNDING

The Office of Learning and Information Technology (OLIT) at the University
of Wisconsin System Administration and the Learning Technology Development
Council (LTDC) would like to announce a call for proposals for a second
round of funding for the Curricular Redesign Grant Program for FY
2000-2001. $140,000 is available for project support. The deadline for
proposals is October 16, 2000. The Request for proposals can be found at:

Don't miss Nick Holt's column in the Daily Cardinal every Wednesday. Nick
is an undergraduate studying at the American University of Cairo this
