In collaboration with ASA (African Students' Association), AFRICaide is hosting a week-long series of events to participate in "Congo Week: Breaking the Silence" from October 17 - 23, 2010.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17:  AFRICaide fundraiser holiday sale, Community of Hope, UCC 7118 Old Sauk Rd. 2-6pm

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20: "CELL OUT"--for as long as you can during the day, turn of your cell phone to protest the illegal extraction of minerals in Congo (minerals that cell phones and all electronics depend on to function)

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21: Videos screening and discussion on conflict minerals and rape in Congo, Memorial Library room 126, 7-9pm (no I.D. needed to enter room 126)

The purpose of "Break the Silence Congo Week" is to raise consciousness about the devastating situation in the Congo and mobilize support on behalf of the people of the Congo. Congo Week III will take place from Sunday, October 17 to Saturday, October 23, 2010.
