Liberia find themselves on top of Group B following their 2-0 victory
against Sudan in an unlikely top of the table clash in Paynesville.
Kelvin Sebwe openned the scoring in the 38th minute, and the team's
technical director and inspiration George Weah added a second with just 12
minutes remaining.

The result makes group favourites Nigeria's task to qualify for what would
be their third consecutive World Cup finals an even taller order.
Nigeria lost their crucial qualifier against Sierra Leone 1-0 in Freetown.

A goal 25 minutes into the game from home-based player Sidique Mansaray of
Freetown club East End Lions was enough to gain Sierra Leone their first
points of these qualifiers.

The defeat leaves the much-vaunted Super Eagles still trailing in third
place.

Will coach resign?

The Super Eagles' Dutch-born coach Jo Bonfrere may well have predicted his
fate, as he promised to resign if Nigeria lost to Sierra Leone.

A row between coach Bonfrere and the Nigerian Football Association
secretary-general Tijani Yusuf had already overshadowed Nigeria's
preparations for their trip to Freetown.
Bonfrere criticised Yusuf for the poor conditions in which he was expected
to prepare a winning team for the Freetown tie.

Bonfrere told reporters this week he did not think it likely he would go to
the World Cup finals with Nigeria, even if they qualified for Japan and
South Korea.
