LORENZO NATALI PRIZE FOR WEST AFRICAN JOURNALISM

West African journalists are invited to apply for the Lorenzo Natali Prize
2000. The competition, organised by the European Union, aims to promote
reporting which recognises human rights and democracy as vital elements in
the quest for equitable development. Print journalists are invited to
submit one article published during the year 2000 that addresses democracy
or human rights as a key aspect of development. Entries must be submitted
in an official language of the European Union or with a translation into
one of these languages. The winner will receive 5000 euros (approximately
US$ 4370). Applicants submitting more than one article will be
disqualified. The deadline for receipt of entries is 1 June.
