PANA is proud to present BATACUMBELE

An exclusive Midwest appearance, Labor Day Weekend 2000,
BATACUMBELE with special guests Giovanni Hidalgo unite in Madison for one of its only three Midwest concerts.

On Saturday, September 2,  at 9:30pm at The Annex, 1206 Regent Street,
Madison, Wisconsin,  BATACUMBELE will reunite for a performance/dance
concert that guarantees "everyone will dance with the drum 

A percussion clinic with members of Batacumbele will also take place on
September 2 at 2pm at Drums and Moore (6300 Monona Dr.,

Batacumbele - Yoruba language meaning "to kneel before the drum" was
founded in 1980 in San Juan, Puerto Rico by Master percussionist Angel
"Cachete" Maldonado.  Batacumbele is one of the leading Afro Caribbean
ensembles in the world.  Known as a progressively innovative ensemble that
respects tradition,  Batacumbele excites audiences by fusing genres such
as Afro Cuban salsa & jazz with African and Caribbean (Puerto Rican)
folkloric polyrhythms.    The combination of world-class virtuoso
musicians and superb vocalists along with great compositions and
arrangements result in a unique package that has garnered a cult following
in Japan, Europe, South America, the greater Antilles & Caribbean and the
United States.    

The ensemble reunites for an exclusive appearance in the Midwest as a 12
piece All-Star unit with original members including Giovanni Hidalgo.  RMM
Records recording artist, vocalist & trumpeter Jerry Medina joins the
group  leading the dance oriented songs with his electric vocals.    
 
Advance tickets are $18, and $20 on the day of the show.  Limited
unreserved seating is available. Tickets are available for sale at:  Steep
