Subject: Type A: Updated Information on the Transient Aide Program atDane
County Human Services

If someone has been STRANDED in Dane County for less than 48 hours and
Dane County was not their intended destination, they may qualify for the
Transient Aide program.

This program will get individuals to the NEXT MAJOR CITY en route to
their final destination.

For example - if an individual from Chicago, IL got stranded in
Madison, WI en route to Fargo, ND - and they did not intend to stop in
Madison to visit friends, look for work etc - and they qualify for the
transient aide program, the program might send them to Minneapolis, MN
(the next major city en route) where they would have to start this
process over again.

To find out if they qualify - individuals should call the Dane County
Connections line at 608/242-7441.

Applications for this program MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN 2:30 PM.

The After-Hours version of this program is handled by the Salvation
Army. If it is near or after 2:30 PM, or if it is a holiday or weekend,
individuals in need of Transient Aide should go directly to the
Salvation Army at 630 E Washington Avenue.

If you have any questions on this program, please call 608/242-7441.

Thank you!
