Hi everyone!
I had a call this evening from a poor soul who has DH, candida, and
Parkinson's disease. She had seen a recent TV report I did on our local CBS
affiliate. She did not realize that her intestine was most likely damaged
due to celiac/gluten. Her doctor told her there was no connection. That she
would only suffer dermatitis symptoms. Oh my.
She was asking me if there was a connection between celiac and Parkinsons. I
searched the archives, but came up empty. Any knowledgeable folks out there
that can help? I also searched the Parkinson's area of the net w/ no luck.
She has had B12 deficiency, having weekly injections. Everything just hit
her about 5 years ago, and is still now getting resolved, just diagnosed w/
DH 2 years ago and started the gluten-free diet. She's had great results.
She pointed out that calcium chloride seems to make her erupt in a rash and
that her Vitamins contain this, although they are claimed to be gluten-free.
She also told me that a naturopathic doctor told her that there was gluten in
rice, and she's afraid that might be causing her symptoms. I'm going to send
her some basic info. She is a member of a national celiac support group.
Thanks for any help!
