The best way to prepare your worms is to rinse them under running water and
make sure that all of the soil is rinsed off. Place them in a bowl and eat
like popcorn. Grab a few with your fingers, tilt your head back and swallow
them whole. This takes a bit of practice, you may want to start with one at
a time. I've known guys who chew them up, I've tried it and I'm not too
thrilled with the taste. There's nothing wrong with chewing them, keep a
glass of water handy to wash them down with. It's also a good idea to take
your thumb and index finger, place them on the worm and slide them down the
body to remove any waste that the worm may have inside. In the field,
(military jargon) you don't always have access to running water so the thumb
and finger slide is used to remove dirt and waste from the worm. It's been
roughly ten years since I was in the military, even though the instructor
told us the nutritional value I can't recall the exact numbers. Seems that
they were high in protein. Maybe someone else knows of a database somewhere
that lists nutritional values for insects. An old high school friend who is
still in the Army Rangers tells me that they eat more than just earthworms,
he didn't go into great detail but I believe grasshoppers and other larvae
were on his list.

If you like to watch TV, and have ever seen the Guinness Book of Records
show that used to be on FOX, there was an American ex-special forces
gentleman that holds the record for the most Earthworms eaten in a minute.
He just grabbed finger fulls of worms and let them slide down the ol' hatch.
