As a semi-follow-up, it appears that the local news stations in my area are
on the Protein diet bashing bandwagon. The same old tired arguments are
used, typically "This diet started 30 years ago and is regaining popularity
due to the latest resurgence in dieting...yadda, yadda, yadda..." Carbs are
great, protein/fat is the devil :-). This just re-enforces my opinions that
newscasts are biased and that the reporters do absolutely no research before
presenting a story. There are those few reporters that do research and often
are forced to present a story that is biased against their wishes. For an

there to the story about the TV news reporters who wanted to blow the
whistle on the dangers of milk and where it landed them.
A question about Olives, are the green ones with the pimento acceptable? I
ate some this weekend but tossed the pimento aside because I wasn't sure
what a pimento is/was. You guys ever notice that Paleo friendly foods tend
to cost about 3 times more than non-Paleo foods? I bought sardines in olive
oil it cost me three times more than the sardines in soybean oil, sheesh!
I'm also interested in hearing from you folks about snack ideas, while I'm
at work. I did have a big bag of shelled walnuts but they didn't last
through the weekend. If in a hurry or for people on the go, what are a few
good ideas? No luck in finding any type of suet this weekend, I have a
Meijer and a Winn Dixie and a Kroger near-by, I was unable to find it at
these locations, help! After hearing all about pemmican, I'm really
interested in trying it. I did find some Omega 3 enriched eggs at Meijer,
the other two places didn't have any. Also, all I can seem to find is grain
feed beef, I'm not having much luck around here. When I have it, I usually
have raw deer meat, however it's tough to come by when it's out of season.
Chinese food - I should have stated this earlier, but the restaurant I
frequent is not of the take out variety. It is a buffet that includes items
such as baked Salmon with lemon pepper, crab legs still in the shell, fresh
Oysters on the half shell, mussels still in shell, roast beef, peel and eat
shrimp, and the traditional American Chinese fried/breaded meals. I've had a
traditional Vietnamese meal before and it was much better than what you find
in the restaurants. An interesting note, survival training in some branches
of the U.S. military teach you to snare small game, skin it with your teeth
and how to eat it raw. Organs included, see and you thought your tax dollars
were being wasted, I recommend everyone try earthworms, they take a bit to
get used to but they are nutritious, another military survival delicacy.
Another thing I notice about being in ketosis, I tend to be in a bad mood
for the first 24-48 hours after entering into it. I've also heard others who
follow low carb diets mention that they have a period of crankiness after
entering ketosis also. Anyone else on this list have the same experience?
