No, that is total grams of protein, not meat weight. Different meats, nuts
and vegetables have different compositions of protein, fat and carbohydrate
per ounce (or gram) of weight. I personally shoot for a total of 200
grams per day of protein, using a database to track what I eat.

Again, I am going by grams of protein, not weight of meat. 300 grams of
meat by weight is a little over 10 ounces, 500 grams is about 18 ounces.
That hardly sounds excessive unless you have some form of kidney disease.
And if you have kidney disease, then you should be speaking to a physician.

Again, please realize that I'm not an MD. If you have kidney problems,
then you may want to speak with an MD about safe protein levels.

When you first hit ketosis, you get a sudden flush of water from your
system - hence the quick weight loss. Be certain to drink a lot of water.
I drink from 4 to 8 litres per day when in ketosis and still feel thirsty
half of the time. After a couple of days you get used to drinking that
much water. Once you are there, then the rapid weight drops will normally
cease. At that point, further weight loss will be slower, but will be
actual bodyfat, providing you are eating below maintenance and above
starvation levels.

If you are in ketosis then you are dehydrated. Again, drink lots of water.
