I am in the process of re-doing the house and started tackling stripping
the six coats of wallpaper on my 1920's house. I was hesitatnt to use
the the chemical paper removers. I checked my notes from a furniture
refinishing course I took at NYU years ago and remembered that they said
that VINEGAR AND WATER is a universal glue release! Of course I sued a
gf white vinegar, added equal part of hot water and appllied it with a
large sponge, after scoring the paper. It can right off [after it
soaked in}.

I was a little worried about the wheat glue that used to be used to
apply wall paper. Interstingly, I had no reaction AT ALL. The glue must
have been encapsulated between the layers of wall paper {at least five].
