This cave girl is really glad to join the clan! Hi, my name is Judy
Genova. I'm
41, been Paleo since August, and live on 189 acres in the Fingerlakes
Region of
New York State. I heat by wood, still don't have T.V. and just got
hooked up to
cyberspace. So, forgive any errors I might make. Ray Audette really
inspires me. So many diet officianado's look like undertakers. My sense
of Ray is that he lives his truth. After 14 years of eating what I
thought was the "Cancer Prevention Diet" (aka Macrobiotics) I was
diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease, and had an inoperable chest
tumor the size
of Texas (in honor of Neanderguy's home turf). Exactly one year
ago, I was given two weeks to live, if I rejected modern medical
approach (which had been my usual route having refused even an aspirin
for the past 20 years)
so I
surrendered to the miracles of G-d and the doctors at Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Hospital. I owe my life to both and am
finally feeling ready to
begin the rest of my days. It's kind of funny - most people who get
cancer, change their life in some dramatic way by usually giving up red
meat and becoming vegetarian . I went the opposite route, giving up
grains and beans for meat and plenty of it. At this point, I'm going on
sheer instinct about this diet thing. As a foundling paleo,
I even got my hunting license! My two sons, age 8 and 4 are very proud
that their mom has her own shotgun and rifle. I'm cancer free to date,
tumor
is gone,
and my last triglyceride count was 34. ("Normal" is 50 - 200). So,
life is good. I
look forward
to knowing you all. If anyone has experience or results using the
Paleo Diet as part of
their cancer
recovery, or as an immune stimulant well, I sure would be pleased to
hear your accounts. Your tips would be welcomed. Since mine is a lymph
system cancer, I wonder about the saturated fat content of some of the
neanderthin yummies, for example pemmican which I love to eat - sure
beats rice balls!
Everyday is a
gift!!
