Agricultural Research (FHIA) has four immediate
openings for qualified professionals. FHIA is a
private, non-profit institution, doing research on and
promotion of non-traditional export crops.
Headquarters and laboratories are based at La Lima,
Honduras. We operate five experiment stations in which
work is conducted (selectively) on Musaceae, sweet
corn, rice, citrus, vegetables, fruits and vegetables
of temperate climate, cocoa, agro-forestry and exotic
tropical fruits. The contracted personnel would work
in zones where each particular expertise is needed as
part of a project for rehabilitation of the
agricultural/processing export industry. Position 1:
Vegetables Horticulturalist. Qualifications: 1) M.S.
in Horticulture or related discipline, 2) Bilingual
Spanish-English, 3) Two years minimum work experience.
Desirable: 1) Experience in field research/extension
and in management of field personnel, 2) Experience in
non-traditional vegetable crops for the export market,
3) Computer literate. Position 2: Fruits
Horticulturalist. Qualifications: 1) M.S. in
Horticulture or related discipline, 2) Bilingual
Spanish-English, 3) Two years minimum work experience.
Desirable: 1) Experience in field research/extension
and in management of field personnel, 2) Experience in
production of strawberries, blackberries and
raspberries, 3) Computer literate. Position 3: Project
Coordinator. Qualifications: 1) M.S. in any discipline
of Agriculture, 2) Bilingual Spanish-English, 3) Five
years minimum work experience in agricultural research
and transfer of technology in vegetable and fruit
crops production, 4) Computer literate. Desirable: 1)
Ph.D. in any discipline of the Agricultural Sciences,
2) Experience in management of research and technology
transfer projects of vegetable and fruit crops
production. Position 4: Plantain/Banana Researcher.
Qualifications: 1) M.S. in any field of Agriculture or
equivalent work experience, 2) Bilingual
Spanish-English, 3) A minimum of 5 years experience in
research/extension and production of bananas and/or
plantains, 4) Computer literate. Desirable: I)
Experience in organic and/or sustainable agriculture,
2) Experience in project management. Deadline for

Procurement Office

QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree in public or business
administration, law,
economics or a related field. At least five years
relevant working
experience in the field of procurement of equipment
and supplies,
part of which should have been at the international
level, including
substantial experience in contract law. Fluency in
English and a
good working knowledge of at least one other of the
official
languages of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission.
Excellent
communication skills in English are essential.
REMUNERATION/CONTRACT:
Depending on professional background and experience,
indicative
taxfree annual net base salary (inclusive of a
variable element for
post adjustment) from US$ 54,353.- (without
dependants) and
US$ 58,228.- (with dependants), subject to deductions
of
contributions to the CTBTO Provident Fund and Health
Insurance
Scheme. Additional benefits include, when applicable,
dependency
allowance, education grant for children, rental
subsidy, six weeks
vacation per year, home leave travel every two years.
Initial
contract for fixed-term of three years.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced university degree in international relations,
public or
business administration, law or a related field. A
minimum of seven
years of relevant working experience in international
diplomacy,
multilateral negotiations and/or the management of
conferences
and meetings dealing with scientific and technological
matters
preferably two years of which should have been at the
international
level. Fluency in English and a good working knowledge
of at least
one other of the official languages of the CTBTO
Preparatory
Commission. Excellent communication skills in English
are
essential.
