Accessible Music Processing Technology For People Who Are Blind or
Visually Impaired

A Seminar Jointly Presented by

Frontier Computing
Provider of Braille, speech and large print computer systems, training and
support, and

Dancing Dots
The Company Who Helps Blind People Make Music With Their Computers

On Friday, February 16 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Frontier
Computing cordially invites you to attend what will be a fascinating
demonstration of the latest software packages designed or adapted to support
the blind musician. Dancing Dots is currently the world's leading innovator
in this field.

The presentation will be split into two sections separated by a one-hour
break where we will serve a light lunch and allow some time for
introductions and getting acquainted.

During the course of the seminar you will learn:

q How a blind musician can independently record, edit, orchestrate, and
notate music in print and Braille.

q How a blind user can create audio recordings for use in radio, television,
commercial recordings, Etc.

q How a sighted copyist, with little or no knowledge of music Braille, can
prepare Braille scores using music scanning and editing software.

There will also be some informal events such as dinner and discussions on
Thursday and Friday evenings, plus a few ours of more in-depth hands-on time
on Saturday.

Frontier Computing is located at 2221 Yonge Street, Suite 406, Toronto,
Ontario M4S 2B4.

We hope this is the first of several seminars and training opportunities to
be offered by Frontier Computing as we become more involved in designing
music and audio production systems for people who are blind and visually
impaired. Screen reader configurations are being developed for an
increasing number of music and audio production software packages, as well
as comprehensive audio tutorials produced by and for access technology
users.
