Hi,

I find it hard to believe that the split will affect us negatively.

Microsoft did not improve accessibility because Gates suddenly became all
soft inside, but because they were under pressure from the federal
government and many state governments.

If Microsoft is split into two companies, it will still face the same
accessibility requirements when it tries to sell software to the federal
government, or most state governments.

Regarding compatibility issues, that is readily taken care of with
standards set by groups such as the W3C. Standards which Microsoft always
claims to support and often undermines under the table with its
overwhelming power.

Those of you involved with the W3C and the Daisy project and so many other
initiatives and bodies; this is the time to speak out. Speak not only to
your representatives in Washington, but to the rest of us.

There are lots of public relations and other interested professionals
making a lot of money right now. They get hired to call politicians,
prepare TV ads, and you guessed it, to post to lists such as this, to try
to bring public opinion towards the side of Microsoft.
I hope very few of us will fall for that.

Fernando
