Aloha, y'all!

This message is divided into 3 parts
Part 1: The Next Meeting
Part 2: Notes and Comments
Part 3: About VICUG NYC's General Membership Meetings

*** PART ONE: THE NEXT MEETING

where: Selis Manor (Auditorium)
when: Tuesday, June 8 (6 to 8pm)
topic: Creating Accessible Kiosks
presenters: Steve Mendelssohn & Karen Gourgey

VICUG NYC's next General Membership Meeting will be held in the
Auditorium of Selis Manor on Tuesday, June Eighth, from 6 to 8pm.
(Please note that June's meeting will last an extra half-hour, so as
to provide our guests with sufficient time for their presentations.)
The June meeting is devoted to two aspects of the effort to ensure
blind and visually impaired individuals access to touch-screen kiosks.
Our first guest, Steve Mendelssohn, a visually impaired lawyer of
national repute, will address the legal and legislative aspects of
assuring access to kiosks. Our second presenter, Karen Gourgey,
director of Baruch College's Computer Center for Visually Impaired
People (CCVIP), will discuss Baruch College's [5]Talking Directory
Display System (TDDS) project, and will be showing a described video
illustrating the model TDDS system currently installed in the Port
Authority building.

Background materials and resources relating to June's topic can be
found at:
