This message is divided into 3 parts
        Part 1: The Next Meeting
        Part 2: Notes and Comments
Part 3: About VICUG NYC's General Membership Meetings
The beginning of each part is marked with 3 asterisks.

*** PART ONE: THE NEXT MEETING

VICUG NYC's next General Membership Meeting will be held in the Board Room
of The Associated Blind/Selis Manor building on Tuesday, February Ninth,
from 6 to 7:30pm. The February 9th meeting will be devoted to a
demonstration of DOS-based telecommunications programs that run under Windows
95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. There will be a demonstration of Lynx32, a
PC-based version of the character-based browser, which you can use not
only to browse the web, but to play RealAudio and other sound files while
you are online. There will also be a demonstration of Kermit95, a
character-based telnet client that allows you to access a shell account
even when connected to your ISP via a Dial-Up Networking connection.
Please note that, for purposes of the demonstration, February's meeting
will be held in the Board Room of the TAB/Selis Manor Building, and _not_
in the Auditorium.

*** PART 2: NOTES AND COMMENTS

1. We will be collecting membership dues again at the February ninth
meeting. Membership in VICUG NYC is only 12 dollars for a full calendar
year. And just what does that twelve dollars "buy" you? A clear
conscience, the right to vote, and the right to hold office in VICUG NYC.
So, while you don't have to be a dues-paying member to attend VICUG NYC's
meetings, membership is strongly encouraged. (Please note that if you paid
your membership dues during the last quarter of 1998 [i.e. in October,
November, or December] your dues carry over through 1999.)

2. Please note that in December 1998, VICUG NYC's web site moved to the
following address:

        http://www.hicom.net/~oedipus/vicug/

Please update any bookmarks or links accordingly. Thank you.

*** PART THREE: ABOUT VICUG NYC's GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

the TAB/Selis Manor building, which is located at 135 West Twenty-third
Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, in New York City. If you have

Manor, please call The Associated Blind at (212) 766-6800 between 9am and
