Even with the clarification from ted henter's company, not ted himself,
the issue still is that HJ is pushing voluntary standards. I should note
that voluntary standards have existed on building design since 1962 and
that didn't cause most buildings to become accessible to people who use
wheelchairs. It took government mandates to accomplish the feat that most
new buildings are now accessible to people with mobility impairments. I
should also note that it is a "piece of cake" to design a building to be
wheelchair accessible. That didn't mean that people did it though.
