Downloading and installing the service pack 1 will give your friend
essentially the same version you are using, minus support for FAT32
hard disk partitions, which allows you to store data files more
efficiently on a disk. Afterwards 'My Computer' will report he is
using 'A', but for your purposes it will be same.

Other than that I would suggest he upgrade to Win98.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Windows-95 versions question

A friend has installed a LS-120 Super Drive and wants to boot from it.
He is using Windows-95, but it tells him that he needs a later version in
order to be able to do this.

Are there different versions of Windows-95? If I right click on "My
Computer" and the left click on "properties" I see

                Microsoft Windows 95
                4.00.950 B

My friend sees essentially the same message, but without the "B".

What's going on here - are there different versions of Windows-95 and can
they provide different options, etc.?
