Until reading the response it had not  occured to me that there was any
inference that there was anything at all "wrong" with wasabi, but rather that
the intent was to offer alternative choices for the reason of variety,
unavailability, &c. ;nor do I believe the intent of the original statement
included any inference that there was anything "wrong" with wasabi. If one
assumes there is something wrong with anything at all one is sure to find it!
It is very comforting when everything fits. When making choices for ourselves
or others it is essential to step back and think twice or risk the chance of
being influenced by our outlook into making choices based on erroneous
assumptions.
PS: This is the closest that I can get to urging Mary to think again before
taking her son out of school, with all of it's this and that and the other
terrible implications.
 PPS: I realize that I have now strengthened the case against wasabi, but it
will prevail, with some Pommery.
