It is a generalisation that makes sens but
i don't think it is true in every instance. changing the quality of the food
( from refined to whole foods , from starch to carbonhydrates in leafy
vegetables or fruits)
without going down calorie wise can do a lot to reestablish an healthier
metabolism and the body will eliminate the excess.weight . the assimilation
capacity  of the intestine is not taken  in accompt  with this affirmation
