Sounds like she got what she deserved. I was sixteen when I soloed and got
my ticket when I turned eighteen. Flying would have been a great way to
pick up girls, but gas was too expensive and it still cost $25 an hour to
rent the plane. When the kids start leaving home and the cash flow gets a
little better (provided this post-cp thing doesn't put me out of business),
I'd like to do a lot more flying.
BTW--NASA is working on a prototype aircraft and supporting air traffic
control systems for mass consumption. I forget what the program is called,
but it's basically just like the "everybody will fly their own airplane in
the future" articles from Popular Mechanix mags of the '50s.

makes more sense now to just let the airlines get me there, but when i was
young....
also want to jump out of a plane. thought it would impress this pretty young
thing. she was interested, amazingly enough her mother discouraged her
dating me. did not want her daughter to date a "cripple". what a dip (did
not mind her dating someone who mistreated her). anyway when the dating was
broken (and her plans for me being the jump partner) my interest in jumping
out of a perfectly good airplane waned. ah yes, youth...

Sure, Ken. You can get a class 3 medical as long as you don't have any
chronic medical problems where you might keel over behind the yoke. The
only sticky wicket for CPers is that you are required to be able to speak
very clearly over the radio (understandable).
