In response to the poster about cancer and experience with paleo dieting,
all I can offer is my own interesting experience. I've been eating Paleo for
about 3-4 weeks now, one of the benefits I am noticing is the shrinking of
some tumors that I have. They aren't cancerous and I've had them probably my
whole life. I say porbably because my mom told me that when I was only about
4-6 months old, I had to have one removed from above my right eye. When I
was 14 I had to have a massive one removed from my side that was almost into
my lung. Later on at the age of 19, I had to have one removed from my
ribcage near my stomach. Needless to say, even though I'm a weightlifter, I
very seldom go without a shirt. I have a scar that runs from the leftside of
my spine all the way around to just under my rib cage near my stomach. I'm
cut in half I guess you could say. After my last surgery, the doctor told
some bad news, they couldn't remove all of the tumor because it runs up the
ribs from the bottom, the only way to remove it all would be to remove the
ribs. Every day since then I've lived with the fear that someday it might
turn cancerous. My father's side of the family has had several deaths
attributed to cancer. Needless to say, I constantly watch the tumors for a
change in size or shape, I'm always feeling them to see if I notice any
changes. I'll be 30 this Monday so for the past 10-11 years I've been
feeling and monitoring these tumors everyday.
Enough of the drab news, here's the interesting news, since eating Paleo,
I've noticed that these tumors appear to be shrinking. I am afraid to get my
hopes too soon, but after watching these things daily after 11 years, I feel
fairly confident that I can tell if these things change shape or size, etc.
I do believe that they are disappearing. The one sure way to tell will be
when and if they completely go away, (I'm praying that they will). One other
benefit is my Sinuses, this time of year usually finds me suffering from
Sinus trouble, I've been plauged with this my whole life also. Since turning
Paleo, my Sinuses seem to be staying in check. Plus the fact that I'm
beginning to see a Chriopractor also, I believe it is a total appraoch to my
health, regular exercise, Paleo eating, and the Chiropractor. (Ray's book is
on order, will be here for my Birthday..woohoo!)
