Shouldn't we be differentiating here between
"primitive" and "paleo"? I doubt very much if a true
H/G would take the time or go to the trouble of
extracting maple syrup from a tree. But, many "more
settled" primitive societies would (and did). I can
think of a few other items mentioned on this list that
would probably fall into that same category.

You're probably right. But I think we'd probably all
agree it would be preferable to refined table sugar.
