        Well if the box says windows required then you can almost be sure it is a
piece of **** winmodem. You can almost be sure of a modem being a full
hardware modem if it is external, if it is PCI than it is more often than
not a winmodem, if it is ISA than odds favour both sides. Usually one can
tell purely by price. With modems I always recommend a brand name, if you've
got the money go for a 56K hardware 3COM (USR) modem, I still rank them as
the best modems you can buy. I have never regretted paying the $250 CND for
my USR. TTYL
