Subject: Zoom Modem Installation Problem
From: Bryan S. Tyson ([log in to unmask])

A friend of mine has a problem installing a Zoom 56k hardware (i.e.
non-Winmodem) PCI Plug and Play modem. The system is a 200 MHz AMD with 128
MB of RAM running Win95.

Here's what is happening: he installs the modem into the PC and boots. The
system assigns the modem to com 3. Win95 detects the new modem and installs
the driver. The modem works fine UNTIL the PC is turned off. The next time it
is turned on, the PC will not boot. There is no screen display and the PC
beeps repeatedly. He then has to pull the modem out to get the system to boot
again. If he then installs the modem again, the same cycle repeats.
