From a shell prompt type xf86config follow all the instructions, and when
you get to the point where you are asked if you want a virtual screen that
is larger than the physical screen say NO. This is what you are experiencing
is a large virtual screen size, some prople actually like this. I for one
do not! You really need to be familiar with you hardware though when using
this method, and if you are unsure, you can always press Ctrl-C to break out
of the setup. You may need to run this several times to get the results you
are looking for so in advance backup /etc/X11/XF86config so you can go back
to the original setup. You can also manually edit the XF86config file, but
just using xf86config is much easier once you get the hang of it!!!
